The SUMIDA AQUARIUM newly opened in May 2015 on the fifth and sixth floors of Tokyo Sky Tree Town west yard as one of the main attractions of the town.

The aquarium features a huge open indoor tank which is the largest one in Japan. The tank is representing dozens of penguins and some fur seals, and you can enjoy watching them from very short distance. You can also observe the aquarium staff breeding the creatures at backyard and they would give you some explanation about the creatures if you request. The borderless relationship between the visitors, the staff and the sea creatures is one of their special features.

At the coral reef zone, the square show cases are made with clear glass walls for being able to see the creatures from any angle without any obstacle.
Furthermore, the aquarium houses a large tank which is home to the sea creatures in Izu Islands and Ogasawara Islands where are administratively part of Tokyo. You can see the colorful creatures there forming groups and swimming around as if they are in a deep blue world-heritage beautiful ocean.

There is also a giftshop to pick up some original goods as souvenirs.

SUMIDA AQUARIUM opens daily from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm (admission until 8:00 pm).
Admission fee is 2,050 yen for an adult.
It is accessible directly from Tokyo Sky Tree Station (Tobu Sky Tree Line), or a few minute-walk from Oshiage Station (Tobu Sky Tree Line, Hanzomon Subway Line, Keisei Line or Toei Asakusa Subway Line).
