SHUTTERS Futakotamagawa

About 5 minutes walk from the Futako Tamagawa station, there is an area called ‘Yanagi Koji’ which creates the atmosphere of the elegant Kyoto city. Among many restaurants of cuisines from all over the world, there is a casual Italian restaurant called ‘Shutters’ at one corner of the ‘Yanagi Koji’ area.

The warmth of the wood and the chic tone of color of the exterior makes you easy to drop in and enter the restaurant. There is a big fish tank in the center of the restaurant, and classical music at lunch time and jazz music at dinner time is being played for the customers to feel cozy.

All menus served in Shutters are its original.

One of the best recommended dish is the spareribs of pork made in Japan. These spareribs are so tender by the original cooking method that they could easily be peeled off from the bone without using the knife. Since you cannot eat such tender spareribs elsewhere, it is popular among many women and elderly people.

There are 8 kinds of seasoning for the spareribs: soy sauce, salt and pepper, garlic, mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, Japanese horseradish and basil. The store’s recommendation is soy sauce flavor, but if you cannot decide which to choose, you can order as ‘half & half’ which you can select two favorite flavors (except soy sauce). You can also take it to go.

Another recommendation is the ‘Apple a la mode’, which is an apple pie hot from the oven using apples made in Japan, and vanilla ice cream and sauce on top of it. The harmony of this hot pie and cold ice cream superb that many people visit the restaurant only to eat this dessert.

You can choose the sauce topping from the following 6 flavors: blueberry, raspberry, caramel, chocolate, maple syrup and cinnamon. If you make a reservation by the day before, they will prepare it as a special birthday plate or a memorial plate.
