Ochanomizu city is located right next to Akibhabara, which is also known as the Akihabara electric city. At Akihabara, there are various electrical appliances and parts available, and foreign tourists can often get a tax-free discount by showing your passport and boarding pass. For those that are also interested in having a look at some electrical instruments, especially electric guitars and basses, then visiting Ochanomizu musical instrument shopping street is highly recommended. You can either take the JR Chuo local line from Akihabara Station (1 stop) or instead take a 20 minute walk to Ochanomizu.

The musical instrument shopping street is right in front of the train station, and you will be surprised by the number of guitar stores lined up on each side of the road continuously, for several hundred meters. The amazing thing about the guitar shops are that they sell a variety of new, used and vintage guitars and basses (They often have instruments that are not available online).  A wide range of vintage effectors are also available at Ochanomizu (prices vary according to the value of the product). Even if you are not planning to buy an instrument, you should definitely try out some of their rare guitars and bases!!

Once you have enjoyed having a look at some of the stores, you should also check out the famous bridge called Ochanomizubashi. This bridge was the first iron bridge designed by a Japanese engineer in 1981. This was during the Meiji restoration period, where Japan was going through the process of westernization. The current bridge was reconstructed in 1931 with its length stretching 80 m and width 23.8 m. In addition, the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line runs below the bridge, which is quite a sight!
