The Ministry of Justice

The Ministry of Justice was one of the government office in Meiji Era in Tokyo. It is located in Kasumigaseki Chiyoda-ward, and is designated as a cultural asset of national importance.

It isn’t known well to tourists, but is worth seeing. Cherry trees are planted around this building so you can enjoy it in particular in spring.

19.Ministry of Justice

The Ministry of Justice of red brick was designed by German architect Beckman and Ende, and completed the structure in 1895. The red brick building was hardly damaged by Great Kanto earthquake in 1925. But the Pacific War of 1945, it was destroyed by fire except for brick walls and floors.  After the war it was repaired and has been used afterwards as the main building of Ministry of Justice. It is opened from Monday to Friday.
