Jiyugakuen Myonichikan


Jiyugakuen Myonichikan was a school building,designed by a famous American architect,Frank Lloyd Wright in 1921. He was designed the Imperial Hotel in Japan as well. This school was founded by Mr. and Mrs.Funi. Endo Arata,a Japanese architect introduced Frank to the couple.Frank was impressed by the couple’s educational philosophy,so he designed this school.

You can have tea or coffee inside of the school if you buy special ticket. You can relax in quiet surrounding that is a little far away from the crowded place.

Opening Hours 10 am – 4 pm (last ticket entry at 3:30pm)
Closed Mondays
(except for national holidays on Monday) and Year-end/New Year holidays
Admission Entrance fee with tea/coffee is 600/per person
(Group with 20 or more is 500/per person)
Entrance fee without tea/coffee is 400/per person
(Group with 20 or more is 300/per person)
Access 5 minutes walk from Metropolitan Plaza, JR Ikebukuro Station
7 minutes walk from Mejiro Station.
