Ghibli Museum -Kichijyoji-

If you love animated films by Miyazaki Hayao like Totoro, Castle in the Sky, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, I highly recommend that you visit this museum.

I stopped by there when I went on a business trip to Tokyo. It’s located in Mitaka, a  quiet residential area in Tokyo, so you have to take localbus to get there from JR Mitaka station.

In addition, you better make sure that you get an entrance ticket before you go. You can’t buy it at the museum’s entrance so you should get it at Lawson, the only convenience store that sell it. You will also need to specify the time you will want to be there when you buy the ticket.

Once you go in there, you’ll enjoy the Miyazaki world. There is no specific order to follow when looking around, so you can see his works freely. The highlight is some short films that you can watch only in there.

Here is the official website in English so you can check the detail.

Ghibli Museum is one of the spots I must visit in Japan because my kid and I love studio Ghibli films! This is a place where you can feel the world of Miyazaki. I’ve heard that the tickets they use at the museum in an actual piece of Ghibli films. That is very interesting! I wonder what it feels like to be to sit inside the neko (cat) bus from Totoro.
