Food Samples in Kappabashi, near Asakusa

A food sample is a part of Japanese culture now. It was hard for people to see what kind of food the restaurants provided. Then, those people started to make food samples.

But now, it’s a kind of art as it really looks like a food, not a sample. Because when you see it, it’s really hard to see if it’s a sample or real.

This store, Ganso Shokuhin Sample-ya not only sells many kinds of different food samples, but organize the class to make samples on the 2nd floor of that building. To make samples, you have to book in advance, though.

When you go to Asakusa, you may make a little side trip to Kappabashi, where you can find many kinds of traditional Japanese kitchen wears besides the store of food samples. You must be able to enjoy shopping and seeing amazing works of samples.

I am wondering if I can see these kind of works in other countries out of Japan. Many restaurants in Japan show the display in front of the shop.
